I recently sat down with Patricia Sung from Motherhood in ADHD to talk about all things parenting and ADHD - and boy, did it bring up a lot of reflection time for me. Like a LOT of ADHDers, I was diagnosed with ADHD in my 30’s — when I was already WELL into parenting. This meant that I spent YEARS not knowing why I was so overwhelmed, disorganized, and just plan exhausted. I just assumed that I was doing it wrong - that I wasn’t managing my life the way that I was supposed to.

This is a reminder that you’re not doing it wrong. It can just be THAT difficult to be a parent with ADHD. However, it doesn’t require shame, guilt, or negative self-talk. It’s time to let that sh*t go.

While I was reflecting on my parenthood journey, I was lucky enough to collaborate with Shimmer, an ADHD Coaching platform, on creating a parenting guide for ADHDers. The guide answers questions like: How do I manage and work through guilt as a parent? And, how do I keep on top of everything? I think this is a great resource for parents - one that I wish I’d had when my babies where little.
